Israel Defense Forces troops on Saturday night shot and killed one of two suspects attempting to carry out a smuggling operation along the Egyptian border, within Israeli territory.

According to the military, the suspects tried to ram the soldiers with their vehicle. Troops opened fire, killing one suspect and apprehending the other. No Israeli soldiers were injured.

The detained suspect was transferred to security forces for further questioning.
