The IDF’s new “Shield of Steel” emblem, created in honor of the country’s 75th anniversary, is unveiled in an official ceremony at Latrun, on May 31, 2023.

In honor of the 75th anniversary of the State of Israel, a unique Star of David symbol, called the “Shield of Steel,” will be stamped on Israel’s advanced armored fighting vehicles.

The emblem was unveiled in an official ceremony on Wednesday, with the participation of senior IDF officers and other officials.

It will be borne by the Merkava 4 main battle tank and the Namer and Eitan armored personnel carriers, according to the IDF.

“Today is a historic day,” said Israeli Defense Ministry director Maj. Gen. (res.) Eyal Zamir. “Exactly 75 years ago, the order of the day was published for the establishment of the Israel Defense Forces, and to it was attached the oath of allegiance of IDF soldiers,” he said.

“The symbol of the Star of David, designed by the National Army and the Armored Corps, will convey a message of strength and constant movement forward.

“This important enterprise will emphasize the connection and the endless commitment of the National Defense Ministry and the Ministry of Defense to the IDF soldiers. We will continue to equip them with the best and most protected land combat weapons in the world, which will guarantee them an advantage on the battlefield,” he added.
