Israel Aerospace Industries will showcase the company’s Blue Spear surface-to-surface missile this week at the Singapore Airshow, which runs from Tuesday until Friday.

IAI described the missile as “an advanced precision weapon which can operate at all weather conditions, day and night and enables strike capabilities beyond the line of sight, against mobile and stationary targets at sea.”

The missile’s maximum range is 290 kilometers (190 miles).

It shares a common heritage with IAI’s Gabriel sea-skimming anti-ship missiles, which have been developed and produced over many years.

“The Blue Spear system enables launching from several land-based platforms with flight at high subsonic speed,” said IAI on its website

The warhead uses a radar-homing seeker, in addition to an internal navigation system, making it immune to jamming of satellite communications, it added.

“The systems are equipped with a variety of deception means to achieve its mission and cope with the different battle-field challenges,” said IAI.

In October, the Estonian Centre for Defense Investment signed a contract with Proteus Advanced Systems Pte. Ltd.—a joint venture company of Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. and ST Engineering Land Systems Ltd.—to equip the Estonian Defense Forces with Blue Spear missiles for coastal defense purposes.
