An Israeli soldier was lightly wounded during a counter-terror operation overnight Wednesday in the village of Nur al-Shams in northern Samaria, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

He was shot during an exchange of fire and taken to a hospital for medical treatment. His family was informed of the incident.

Before the shootout, IDF troops arrested a wanted man in the village, and confiscated improvised weapons, weapon parts and military equipment.

The arrest raid took place in the area assigned to the IDF Judea and Samaria Division’s Bekaa and Emekim Brigade, where 15 terror suspects were arrested in overnight activities.

During an operation in Qabatiya in northern Samaria overnight Tuesday, two terrorists were killed and seven surrendered to Israeli security forces, according to Channel 12.

Some of the terrorists were affiliated with Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and may have been involved in recent attacks in Judea and Samaria, according to the report.

The incident was unusual, as terrorists generally turn themselves in to the Palestinian Authority and are detained in the Palestinian prison in Jericho, the report noted.

The Palestinian Authority Health Ministry identified the casualties as Ahmad Jamal Assaf, 19, and Warani Walid Qatanat, 24, both from Jenin.

Also on Tuesday, a female Israeli soldier was seriously wounded by shrapnel during an exchange of fire that broke out during an arrest operation in the city of Tubas in northeastern Samaria.

She was evacuated to a hospital, and her family was informed of her condition, the army said in a statement.
