Several people were lightly wounded on Sunday night in the latest Iranian missile attack targeting the Israeli home front, according to initial reports by medical officials.
Magen David Adom said its medics were treating and evacuating two people who sustained light shrapnel injuries following a barrage of ballistic missiles that struck northern Israel.
United Hatzalah said its volunteers evacuated three people with minor injuries following a direct missile impact in Haifa.
Meanwhile, Israel’s National Fire and Rescue Authority launched a search for a civilian feared trapped after fires broke out in two buildings, according to Ynet.
The Iranian attack triggered air-raid sirens across Israel, including in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and southern regions of the country.
The Israel Defense Forces’ Home Front Command issued an all-clear approximately 35 minutes after initially warning that missiles were incoming from Iran, allowing civilians to leave bomb shelters.
“Rescue and emergency forces are operating at multiple sites across the country where reports of impacts have been received,” the IDF said in a statement.
At least 13 people were killed overnight as Iranian ballistic missiles struck civilian areas across Israel in a major escalation.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday visited Bat Yam, the site of the deadliest Iranian missile strike, and vowed that Tehran would face significant consequences for its aggression.
“We are here because we are in an existential battle, which today is understood by every citizen of Israel. Think about what would happen if Iran had a nuclear weapon to drop on Israeli cities. Think about what would happen if Iran had 20,000 such missiles. Not one—20,000. An existential threat to Israel,” the prime minister declared.
“Iran will pay a very heavy price for the deliberate murder of civilians, women and children. We will achieve our objectives and also deal them a powerful blow. They will feel the strength of our arm,” he said.
