Leading rabbinic scholars, educators and Jewish communal leaders will be featured on Sunday at the Orthodox Union’s third annual Torah New York at Citi Field in New York City, where more than 2,500 men, women and children can learn about how artificial intelligence will impact Shabbat observance, repentance in a world where mistakes on the Internet exist online forever and sins that may seem unforgivable.
“Torah New York,” the largest event of its kind in North America, will feature more than 20 lectures that are divided into categories such as Jewish law, Jewish life, Jewish history, Bible, as well as sessions focused on various aspects of the Jewish High Holidays, including repentance and prayer.
The day-long event will also feature a screening of a never-before-seen recording of Rabbi Joseph Soloveitchik teaching one of his famed annual lectures on repentance.
Sessions will be geared for individuals of all backgrounds, from beginners to Torah scholars.
“Learning Torah is a key component to Jewish life; it impacts our daily life from how we interact with G-d, our interpersonal relationships and how we conduct ourselves in business,” said Orthodox Union president Moishe Bane. “We structure the lectures to have broad appeal. The timing of this year’s program will help put us all in the appropriate mindset for the upcoming High Holidays.”
Scholars teaching throughout the day include Henry Abramson, Rabbi Moshe Elefant, Rabbi Eytan Feiner, Rabbi Dovid Fohrman, Rabbi Joey Haber, Rabbi Yaacov Haber, Rabbi Ahron Lopiansky, Rabbi Yaakov Neuburger, CB Neugroschl, Sivan Meir, Rabbi Yosef Rimon, Rabbi Shaul Robinson, Smadar Rosensweig, Rabbi Yonason Sacks, Rabbi Jacob Schacter, Dina Schoonmaker, Shira Smiles, Rabbi Zvi Sobolofsky, Shani Taragin, Rabbi Ya’akov Trump, Rabbi Zecharia Wallerstein, Rabbi Steve Weil, Ora Wiskind and Rabbi Jeffery Woolff.
Orthodox Union executive vice president Allen Fagin noted that “thousands of people come to hear top-notch speakers who share their diverse perspectives on Torah thought.”
