If Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fails to secure a coalition before the Wednesday deadline and Israel goes to new elections, his Likud Party will win again, according to a survey conducted by the Israeli daily “Ma’ariv.”
A new prime minister? Another election? A minority government? All those scenarios could unfold in Israel over the next few days.
The two major sticking points holding up a new coalition are haredi conscription and the justice ministry portfolio. Despite what the media is saying, the question of immunity for the prime minister is not an issue.
If Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fails to negotiate coalition agreements before May 29, he may lose the chance to form the next government. Also crucial is consideration of a clause that would give a Knesset majority the power to overturn a Supreme Court decision.
New forms, for example, will read “couple,” rather than “husband and wife,” in addition to other changes in marital privileges.
The young man is charged with the death of Palestinian Authority resident Aisha Rabi, who was allegedly killed by a heavy rock hurled through the windshield of her car on Oct. 12.
