The Chinese video-sharing platform TikTok has lost one of its primary advocates in the Jewish state following his frustrations over the company’s unwillingness to properly crack down on antisemitic content.

Barak Herscowitz, who previously worked as an adviser to former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, had served as TikTok’s “vertical lead in the government and public sector.” He announced his resignation Monday on X.

“I resigned from TikTok,” he wrote. “We live in a time when our very existence as Jews and Israelis is under attack and in danger. In such an unstable era, people’s priorities are sharpened. Am Yisrael Chai.”

Herscowitz had previously submitted a memo to TikTok regarding anti-Israel bias on the platform, including a case where the company refused to allow advertising to raise awareness on the hostages kidnapped by Hamas and being held captive in Gaza.

In response to someone on X asking if he should have stayed longer in an attempt to influence further decisions, Herscowitz wrote, “I did my best as long as I was there. There are wonderful people at TikTok Israel who are doing their best.”
