Mark Treyger, of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York, told JNS that the legislative package “will help ensure the safety and security of our community.”
In a new report, the nonprofit said it is concerned about increased “hateful rhetoric” ahead of the November mayoral election in New York City.
“This harmful conduct is unacceptable, and no one should be targeted because of their religion,” the Manhattan district attorney said.
The mayor told a reporter that the Jewish community ought to worry about the state rep’s victory.
“These students will one day share the stories they hear and educate the children of tomorrow,” New York City Council member Julie Menin told JNS.
“If the general election becomes a one-on-one matchup, voters who disliked Cuomo but also aren’t fully comfortable with Mamdani could be up for grabs,” Henry Olsen told JNS.
Eric Fingerhut, CEO of the Jewish Federation, told JNS he hopes that Jews “will organize themselves to make sure that there’s a serious opposition in the general election.”
Duvi Honig, of the Orthodox Jewish Chamber of Commerce, told JNS that he has “profound concerns regarding the intellectual rigor and judgment of the younger generation.”
