“We’re not going to let Georgetown turn into Columbia University in terms of the chaos and the hate that’s spewed,” Ed Martin told JNS.
At the Université libre de Bruxelles, Jewish students said they don’t feel safe.
“Khalil spent the past year and a half leading an organization that effectively made large areas of Columbia University off-limits for Jewish Zionist students,” said David Litman of CAMERA.
“If Harvard, or any institution for that matter, does not wish to comply with this basic legal obligation, the proper avenue for achieving this is simple: do not take federal financial assistance,” the lawmakers wrote.
“With a $53.2 billion endowment, Harvard can fund its own chaos, but the Department of Homeland Security won’t,” a department press release stated.
University president Alan Garber called the government’s demands “unprecedented,” geared more to “intellectual conditions” than attempts to curb campus antisemitism.
Mohsen Mahdawi actively participated in pro-Palestinian student protests and “has engaged in antisemitic conduct,” the “New York Post” reported.
The legal move, which has been used to address alleged civil-rights abuses in police departments, would give a federal judge oversight of the school’s enforcement of its agreement with the administration.
The hearing is part of an effort to “ensure Jewish students across the nation don’t face threats or harassment in violation of Title VI,” stated Rep. Tim Walberg.
The Office of Student Pathways Newsletter reportedly included a link to a “toolkit” encouraging the boycott of pro-Israel organizations and advocating for “Palestine” on social media.
“The American public has sent a clear message: Universities must be held accountable for failing to protect Jewish students from discrimination and harassment,” said Jacob Baime, CEO of Israel on Campus Coalition.
