El Al, Israir and Arkia airlines line up to serve the expected rush of Israeli tourists to the North African country after the announcement of its intent to normalize relations with Israel.
Flights to Athens are set to begin on Oct. 1, with main routes to New York, London and Paris resuming on Oct. 12.
“Israeli aviation is going to completely change,” says tourism expert Yossi Fischer. “The UAE understands what a wonderful opportunity they have, and they know the Israeli market well through the companies they own.”
Rabbi Yissachar Krakowski and team prepared 300 kosher meals over the course of the two-day event in the United Arab Emirates.
In a major step towards normalizing relations between the two countries, El Al Flight 971 touches down in Abu Dhabi after a three-hour flight from Tel Aviv.
The application is expected to be approved, as Riyadh in the past has allowed the use of its airspace for unofficial flights between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
“This is an important step in promoting prosperity and peace in the region,” the Israeli premier says, ahead of the first official flight from Tel Aviv to Abu Dhabi carrying a joint Israeli-U.S. delegation.
Flight there on Boeing 737-900 numbered LY971 • Return flight to Ben-Gurion Airport numbered LY972 for respective calling codes.
The Israeli airline is extending the unpaid leave of most of its 6,080 employees • El Al CEO: “There is still a significant way to go until the restart of scheduled flights.”
Visitors in nations with low coronavirus infection rates will no longer be required to enter quarantine upon arrival.
