Iranian President Hassan Rouhani threatens European troops after France, Britain and Germany trigger the dispute resolution mechanism of 2015 nuclear deal, a move that could lead to sanctions.
In Trikala, one of Greece’s oldest Jewish communities, a monument to Holocaust victims was vandalized, and the city’s synagogue exterior was defaced with slogans, including “Jewish snakes out.”
“My sister was massacred,” said William Attal, one of Sarah Halimi’s brothers, over a microphone above the crowd in Paris.
This is not the first time this year that Jewish graves in Strasbourg were vandalized. The discovery of swastikas on 80 gravestones in a Jewish cemetery in the village of Quatzenheim, also near the border with Germany, was discovered in February.
“The urgent need for education on anti-Semitism, to recognize it and mobilize to confront it, is paramount,” said American Jewish Committee Paris director Anne-Sophie Sebban-Bécache.
The resolution also calls on the government to join other European countries in formally adopting the working definition of anti-Semitism used by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance.

The European Center for Judaism was opened “amid painful times of terrorism and anti-Semitism,” said Joel Mergui, president of the Consistoire organization responsible for Orthodox life in France.
The leaders of the three European countries issued a joint statement at the U.N. gathering in New York, saying, “The time has come for Iran to accept a long-term negotiation framework for its nuclear program, as well as regional security issues, which include its missile programs.”
“We did sanctions today. There will be more sanctions coming,” U.S. special representative for Iran Brian Hook told reporters.
An Iranian delegation came to Paris to finalize the details of the financial lifeline, which would assist Iran amid crushing U.S. sanctions.
Community president Moise Kahloun reported “many problems” in the heavily Jewish Sarcelles district, including “anti-Semitism and fear,” which has caused residents to leave for Israel.
