Jewish groups are demanding that authorities in New York take action against the man they claim assaulted a Jewish Israel supporter at an anti-Israel rally in April.

Matt Greenman was draped in an Israeli flag and standing outside Israel’s consulate and Permanent Mission to the United Nations in Midtown Manhattan on April 20 when the incident took place. He had gone to silently protest the rally “to support Palestinian resistance and liberation by any means necessary,” which was sponsored by a number of groups including Within Our Lifetime, Palestinian Youth Movement and Samidoun.

Greenman was treated at a local emergency room for his injuries.

In video footage, Canary Mission alleges that the assailant is Saadah Masoud, a member of Within Our Lifetime who they say “has a history of violence and of physically assaulting Israel supporters.”

Canary Mission said Masoud previously led a group of anti-Israel protesters in New York in attacking two Israel supporters and punching one of the men in the head. That assault in May 2021 came during an anti-Israel protest during the 11-day conflict between Israel and Hamas, during which the Gaza-based Palestinian terror group fired more than 4,000 rockets at civilian populations in Israel.

“Masoud’s continued presence at WOL rallies represents a physical threat to the New York public,” the statement continued. “It is deeply concerning that nothing has thus far been done to protect the public, in particular supporters of Israel, from this potentially dangerous individual.”

StopAntisemitism.org also took notice of Masoud’s actions, tweeting, “Jews in NYC are not safe with this violent bigot roaming the streets.” They tagged New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.) to their post.

The New York City Police Department is investigating the case; as of yet, there have been no arrests.

The Palestinian Authority’s “pay-for-slay” policy of subsidizing terrorists and their families “must end now!” Israel’s top diplomat stressed.
Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove, of Park Avenue Synagogue, told JNS that he will address “Yizkor, memory and revelation,” rather than politics, during Shavuot morning services.
“The bill will continue to return our intelligence agencies back to their core mission: the collection of clandestine foreign intelligence to protect our homeland,” said Sen. Tom Cotton.
“There’s much that goes into a security-layered approach, and as far as I’m concerned, you can never have too many layers,” the village’s police chief told JNS.
Removing sanctions on the anti-Israel United Nations adviser “will undermine important national security and foreign policy interests of the United States,” the Justice Department said.
“Reconstruction financing will not follow where weapons have not been laid down,” warned Nickolay Mladenov, amid a stalled peace process he largely blamed on the Gazan terror group.
