Israel facilitated the transportation of 140,000 tarpaulins to the residents of Gaza ahead of the winter, Israel’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) said on Sunday.

The waterproof sheets were delivered over the past few months in coordination with the international community, according to COGAT, a hybrid government and military unit operating under the authority of Israel’s Defense Ministry.

The statement further called on international organizations to facilitate the provision of additional tents and tarpaulins, and other winter humanitarian gear, to Gaza civilians.

“Along with our partners at the [U.S.-run Civil-Military Coordination Center] and in the international community, we are planning a catered humanitarian response for the upcoming winter,” COGAT added.

Meanwhile, the IDF announced on Friday the completion of logistical preparations for the winter across all sectors.

The Technology and Logistics Directorate has concluded a month-long monitoring process of the serviceability of weapons systems, armored vehicle coverings, ammunition and maintenance equipment, together with supplying a variety of winter items to all service members, the military said.

The logistics operation included equipping thousands of mobile structures and residential containers with climate control, electrical panels and infrastructure connections, establishing accommodation areas such as showers and heating stations, as well as roof-sealing work.

Additionally, the Medical Corps provided flu vaccinations and conducted drills for medical response to extreme cold exposure, the army stated.

Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara claims there were “substantial flaws” in the decision to appoint Maj. Gen. Roman Gofman to lead the intelligence agency.
