The statement from the White House came after Norway, Ireland and Spain announced unilateral recognition of “Palestine.”
“Contrary to allegations against Israel made by the International Court of Justice, what’s happening is not genocide,” the president said at the White House celebration of Jewish American Heritage Month.
The commencement speaker also said that “both sides have suffered heavy casualties since Oct. 7.”
“The president’s threat to veto this legislation and Schumer’s refusal to bring it to a vote in the Senate are acts of betrayal to our closest ally in the region,” said Speaker of the House Mike Johnson.
The Iowa senator accused the president of inflaming an already hot situation in the Middle East.
U.S. Ambassador to Israel Jack Lew said that while the U.S. supports Israel’s goal of ending the threat posed by Hamas, the terror group cannot be totally eliminated.
The NGO urged the White House to take “all necessary steps” to stop Israel from launching a large-scale operation against Hamas in Rafah.
At a New Jersey rally, the former president called Joe Biden as the “worst president ever, of any country.”
At a Seattle-area fundraiser, the U.S. president also said “I guess I shouldn’t get into all this about Israel.”
The Israeli-American donor to the Democratic Party warned that the decision sends a negative signal to Middle East allies.
