Lakewood hires first Orthodox Jewish police cadet

Lakewood is a hub of Orthodox Judaism and home to one of the largest yeshivahs in the world, the 6,500-student Beth Medrash Govoha.

The police department in Lakewood, N.J., hired its first Orthodox Jewish cadet this week.

The Lakewood Scoop first reported this development and was requested by officers to not release the name of the cadet until the new students complete the academy, which would be in about six months.

“I am pleased to announce today that we’re hiring 13 new police officers, men and women from our very diverse community in order to bring our numbers up to 150 sworn officers,” police chief Greg Meyer told the outlet.

After graduating the academy, the new police officers will go through in-house training before patrolling the streets.

Lakewood, a township in Ocean County, is a hub of Orthodox Judaism. It’s also home to one of the largest haredi yeshivahs in the world, the 6,500-student Beth Medrash Govoha, also known as BMG.

The two heads of towns on the Lebanese border oppose relocation as residents receive short “reprieve” hotel stays instead.

“The expansion of our emergency services will help us better care for patients with the most serious injuries, ensuring they receive the specialized treatment they need, when it matters most,” the hospital said.
“Once again your decisive leadership brought another great victory to America,” the Israeli leader says.
“My intent was to honor our Jewish neighbors and friends,” Nathalie Kanani stated. “We are all human, and even with the best intentions, honest mistakes can happen.”
The man was recognized by police officers while attending a court hearing of the three other suspects connected to the case.
The U.S. president warned that the U.S. military will begin targeting Iranian power plants and bridges on Tuesday if the Strait of Hormuz is not opened.
