Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) and Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) in Jerusalem on Wednesday and thanked the members of Congress “for their personal and bipartisan support for the State of Israel throughout the war,” per an Israeli readout of the meeting.

Netanyahu also addressed “the continuous efforts being made for the release of the hostages and the fighting in Gaza until Hamas is destroyed and any future threat to Israel is prevented,” according to the Prime Minister’s Office. (JNS sought comment from Ernst and Wasserman Schultz.)

On April 14, Ernst and Wasserman Schultz met with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, president of the United Arab Emirates, in Abu Dhabi and “reaffirmed the strength and importance of the U.S.-UAE strategic partnership.”

The members of Congress and the Emirati president also “discussed shared efforts to promote regional security and stability for a safer, stronger and more prosperous world,” per the U.S. embassy in the United Arab Emirates.

The president’s call for a national Shabbat “celebrates our religion and it refocuses on our job to become a light unto the nations,” Rabbi Steven Burg of Aish told JNS.
