The Republican Jewish Coalition has named its 22nd pick to support in the 2024 elections.

“The RJC is excited to endorse Rep. Tony Gonzales—a strong, pro-Israel Republican who has served honorably both in the U.S. military and in the U.S. House of Representatives,” RJC national chairman Norm Coleman, a former senator of Minnesota, and CEO Matt Brooks said in a statement.

Coleman and Brooks called Gonzales, 43, a co-chair in the Latino Jewish Caucus, “a dedicated advocate for his constituents, for U.S. national security, and for the strategic U.S.-Israel alliance. We are proud to recommend him to our members and our community.”

The Navy veteran, who previously worked as a cryptologist and used his expertise to support the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, was elected to serve Texas’s 23rd district in 2020. He previously worked as a national security fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. RJC said he was “an indispensable ally to Jewish Americans and a key supporter of strengthening the US-Israel alliance.”

In his work on the House Appropriations Committee, RJC says Gonzales “played an important role in ensuring that critical funds are provided for Israeli missile defense and other areas of cooperation.”

Rabbi Elliot Cosgrove, of Park Avenue Synagogue, told JNS that he will address “Yizkor, memory and revelation,” rather than politics, during Shavuot morning services.
“The bill will continue to return our intelligence agencies back to their core mission: the collection of clandestine foreign intelligence to protect our homeland,” said Sen. Tom Cotton.
“There’s much that goes into a security-layered approach, and as far as I’m concerned, you can never have too many layers,” the village’s police chief told JNS.
Removing sanctions on the anti-Israel United Nations adviser “will undermine important national security and foreign policy interests of the United States,” the Justice Department said.
“Reconstruction financing will not follow where weapons have not been laid down,” warned Nickolay Mladenov, amid a stalled peace process he largely blamed on the Gazan terror group.
Regardless of the findings of a recent Democratic National Committee “autopsy” report, a “majority of Americans, including Democrats, support the U.S.-Israel relationship,” Brian Romick, of Democratic Majority for Israel, told JNS.
