Late last week, U.S. forces destroyed a Houthi ground control station in a Houthi-controlled region in Yemen that “presented a clear and imminent threat to U.S. and coalition forces, and merchant vessels in the region,” U.S. Central Command stated.

The U.S. Treasury Department also sanctioned 15 ships, companies and people that it said were aiding “for their involvement in the shipment of Iranian commodities, including oil and liquefied petroleum gas, to Yemen and the United Arab Emirates on behalf of the network of Iran-based, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force-backed Houthi financial official Sa’id al-Jamal.”

“Today’s action underscores our continued commitment to disrupting Iran’s primary source of funding to its regional terrorist proxies like Lebanese Hezbollah and the Houthis,” stated Bradley Smith, acting under secretary of the treasury for terrorism and financial intelligence. “Our message is clear: those who seek to finance these groups’ destabilizing activities will be held to account.”
