Report ignores “terror-infested” health facilities taken over by Hamas, Israel’s Geneva U.N. mission says.
“It is time for you to remove UNIFIL from Hezbollah’s strongholds and from the combat areas,” the premier said.
“Hezbollah operates and fires in the vicinity of UNIFIL positions, using peacekeeping missions as a cover for its terrorist activities.”
The American defense secretary “strongly emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety and security of UNIFIL forces and Lebanese Armed Forces.”
In an emergency U.N. Security Council session, ambassador Danny Danon said in Arabic that “the land of Lebanon belongs to the Lebanese, not the Iranians.”
The United Nations has issued regular greetings and congratulatory messages on a host of other religious holidays but has been conspicuously silent about Jewish ones.
The global body told JNS that there has been no official notification, although the Israel Land Authority said it will turn the facility into a housing complex.
At a contentious U.N. Security Council meeting, the body’s president reprimanded the Palestinian “observer” for interrupting the Israeli envoy.
“One of our biggest challenges today is to make it very clear that anti-Zionism is antisemitism,” Daniel S. Mariaschin told JNS in an extended interview.
Without naming Israel, the U.N. body urged all member states to “refrain from any actions that undermine” the secretary-general.
The United Nations head stated “I cannot imagine the torture they are forced to endure every day. I demand once again the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.”
“Anyone who cannot unequivocally condemn Iran’s heinous attack on Israel, as almost every country in the world has done, does not deserve to step foot on Israeli soil,” the Israeli foreign minister said.
