The international grassroots civil-rights movement #EndJewHatred issued the following statement after Mohammed Othman, Mahmoud Musa and Mohammed Said Othman—the three individuals who were arrested for violently attacking Joey Borgen in Times Square—all pleaded guilty:
“The vigorous prosecution of antisemitic hate crimes is the best deterrent to the violent attacks that have been targeting the Jewish community in New York City and elsewhere. We commend and thank Assistant District Attorney Jonathon Junig for pursuing justice for Joey Borgen, even in the face of clear reluctance from his boss, District Attorney Alvin Bragg, to address the explosion of hate crimes targeting Jews in New York City. It should not take years to bring violent attackers, who were recorded on video, to justice. We are relieved that Joey can start the healing process now that his attackers are behind bars. The vigorous prosecution of antisemitic hate crimes is the best deterrent to the violent attacks that have been targeting the Jewish community, in New York City and elsewhere. We will continue to mobilize to support victims of hate crimes, and push for consequences for attackers to end Jew-hatred in our city.”
