Tragedy struck on Nov. 6 when a 16-year-old terrorist viciously attacked Sgt. Rose Lubin, an Israel Defense Forces lone soldier from Atlanta, while she was on duty in Jerusalem. Rose exemplified the true essence of bravery and determination, even when facing the most perilous circumstances.
“Friends of the IDF (FIDF) and Jews worldwide mourn the loss of Rose Lubin, a special young woman and courageous who made the ultimate sacrifice for the State of Israel and her people,” said Seth Baron, vice president of Georgia and Southeast States for FIDF.
“Her courage and her commitment to protect Israel are a true inspiration, even in the face of grave danger,” he continued. “She epitomized the values of dedication and commitment to her mission, and she will always be remembered and honored by the Atlanta community as a selfless hero.”
Earlier this year, Rose touched hearts in the FIDF community with her presence at the FIDF Atlanta Annual Celebration (see the release and photos here).
With pride, she shared her unit’s motto: “Generations dreamed of arriving in Jerusalem, and we have the honor of protecting her.”
Rose’s voice resonated with passion as she spoke about how deeply this motto stirred her soul, particularly when considering the generations of her own family who might have stood there if a State of Israel had existed during the Holocaust.
