The attack took place after the Biden administration announced plans to re-designate the Iranian-backed rebels in Yemen as a terrorist organization.
“If the Houthis cease their attacks in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, the United States will immediately reevaluate this designation,” the U.S. national security advisor said.
Japan’s biggest shipper on Tuesday suspended navigation through the Red Sea.
The attack took place 95 nautical miles southeast of Aden.
“The IRGC made a mistake. They crossed the thin red line between being daring and too aggressive,” says Israeli analyst.
“I will not hesitate to direct further measures to protect our people and the free flow of international commerce as necessary,” the U.S. president said.

Iran and its Houthi proxy have launched a long-term effort blockade shipping to Israel and are threatening global shipping as well.
The administration is, however, hesitant to engage militarily with the Iranian-backed terror army in Yemen.
An Israeli Air Force fighter jet intercepted a “hostile aerial targets on its way to Israeli territory.”
Israel will respond to Houthis attacks when it deems it necessary.
The coalition will include the United Kingdom, Bahrain, Canada, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, the Seychelles and Spain, as well as several anonymous countries.
