Houthis launch missile at UAE during visit by Israeli president
It was downed by UAE air defenses, causing no damage or casualties • Attack is third by Houthis in past two weeks.
The Houthis were a terror group for less than a month, having been designated an FTO in the waning days of the Trump administration, part of its “maximum pressure” campaign against Iran.

“Israel has a lot of experience, knowledge and technology on missile defense. Israel can learn from what happens, and they can learn from Israel,” said Yoel Guzansky, a senior research fellow at the Institute for National Security Studies
The UAE’s Ambassador to Washington said the attacks included drones and cruise missiles.
“For a long time, the Saudis haven’t liked the current Lebanese government. They are refusing to help Lebanon because they feel Hezbollah controls the political system and influences everything,” said Orna Mizrahi at Israel’s Institute for National Security Studies.
Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah Al Saud said in a TV interview that Hezbollah’s role in Lebanon needs “reform and comprehensive revision.”
Sponsored by the European Organizations Union for Peace in Yemen and the Yemeni Coalition of Independent Women, it took place on the anniversary of the Houthi takeover of the country and looked specifically at the mistreatment of Jews, Baha’is and women.
“This is part of the Iranian strategy to become regional hegemons. Hence, the first thing that needs to be done—mostly, by the United States and the international community—is to stop Iranian activation of these militias,” said Col. (res.) Shaul Shay.
The guided-missile cruiser “USS Monterey” found assault weapons, machine guns and sniper rifles on the stateless ship in the Arabian Sea.
Going forward, the kingdom’s actions will determine how much of the two countries’ “ambitious” shared agenda can be achieved.
The apparent Iranian attack on an Israeli-owned civilian cargo ship is a wider threat against shipping and comes as part of retaliation for the assassination of Iran’s top nuclear scientist. Meanwhile, Iranian proxy warfare against the United States has returned to the region.
