The open letter was released by the pro-Israel, California-based entertainment industry organization Creative Community for Peace.
“This is the latest example of the antisemitic hate that pervades the inner circle of Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson,” stated the Consulate General of Israel to the Midwest.
The suspect, who was arrested in May, planned to release a video blaming his actions on Germany Chancellor Olaf Shulz’s support for Israel, according to prosecutors. Two other suspects also face charges in the case.
Matthew Platkin recused himself from the investigation and said “we must never tolerate antisemitism or bias of any kind.”
