“This is an extremely serious incident,” said B’nai Brith Canada CEO Michael Mostyn, “and we trust that law enforcement will give it the attention that it deserves.”
“There is no such thing as a perfect election day, especially in a country as diverse as Canada,” wrote Canada’s chief electoral officer Stéphane Perrault. “There are always Canadians who are unable to vote.”
Canadian police responded to 1,798 hate crimes in 2018, though it was a 4 percent decrease from 2017.
The cancellation follows increased scrutiny of the youth movement over its open support for terrorists and terrorist actions.
“To help address resurgent anti-Semitism in Canada, we’re adopting the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance’s working definition of anti-Semitism as part of our strategy,” said Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism.
Anti-Semitic incidents in Canada rose by 16.5 percent in 2018, with a total of 2,041 total incidents reported.
Incidents of vandalism, however, decreased from 327 to 221, while such violent attacks also dropped, from 16 in 2017 to 11 in 2018.
Programs included advocacy tips, philanthropic events, first-responder training, charity runs, dance fundraisers and lobbyist workshops.
