Founded in 2018, the Arabic division of the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Report and Analysis reported that its work in 2022 led to 111 media corrections and that it is on track to have a similar impact in 2023.

CAMERA promotes accuracy in media coverage of Israel. Its Arabic division monitors and analyzes coverage of Israel in Arabic media that is broadcast on BBC Arabic, Agence France-Presse and France24.

The division compelled BBC Arabic “to take significant behind-the-scenes reforms at its influential Arabic service, to apologize for its failure to take complaints seriously and to belatedly correct dozens of factual errors flagged by CAMERA Arabic,” it stated.

In November, the BBC issued “a rare apology” for what it called an “unacceptable delay” in addressing CAMERA Arabic criticism, “and within weeks upheld every single one of the organization’s outstanding 26 correction requests,” per CAMERA.

In 2021, CAMERA Arabic had secured 41 corrections.
