Mass evacuations, road closures and rising injuries prompt Israel to declare highest fire alert • Greece and Cyprus send emergency firefighting assistance.
The 20-hour battle to control the blaze, which scorched an estimated 2,500 acres, is in its final phase, according to Israel’s Fire and Rescue Service.
More than 3,500 residents were being evacuated from the Beit Shemesh area, with more than 110 firefighting teams battle rapid blazes in the Judean Foothills.
“Aid that goes to Hamas is not humanitarian,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated, agreeing with the U.S. envoy.
The Israeli Health Ministry urged anyone who may have come in contact with the individual to ensure that they are fully vaccinated.
“He is in good condition, he will remain in the medical center for further monitoring and treatment,” his office said.
The test, which focuses on RNA fragments in the blood (tRFs), offers a “highly accurate, non-invasive, rapid and affordable diagnostic tool,” the Hebrew University said.
The collaboration has extended to include joint emergency drills, crew training, blood-donation drives and other initiatives focused on public safety.
“It takes deliberate, long-term investments to build capacity” in implementation science, Adam Rose, of Hebrew University, told JNS.
