Israeli forces have concluded a two-day counter-terrorism operation in the Tulkarem area of northwestern Samaria, the Israel Defense Forces said on Thursday.

Seven terrorists were eliminated during the operation, including a senior figure in the local terror network, according to the military.

Qusai Amin Ibrahim Oqasha had taken over leadership after Tarek Doush was eliminated in a joint IDF and Israel Security Agency air strike last week.

The operation included a series of air strikes, which neutralized several armed terrorist cells. IDF soldiers engaged terrorist forces in close-quarters combat, dismantled dozens of improvised explosive devices hidden beneath roads, apprehended approximately 18 terror suspects and seized various weapons.

During the operation, Col. Ayub Kayuf, commander of the IDF’s 431st Brigade, sustained a minor shrapnel injury to his arm after an explosive device detonated against his armored personnel carrier. He was transported to a medical facility for treatment. Brig. Gen. Yaki Dolf, commander of the 877th Division, who was also in the vehicle, emerged unscathed.
