Israel Defense Forces troops, operating with support from the Military Intelligence Directorate and the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), dismantled dozens of terrorism-related structures across the Gaza Strip, the army said on Thursday.

Troops destroyed weapons storage facilities, underground infrastructure, sniper and observation posts, anti-tank missile positions and other “military” compounds used by terrorists.

In coordinated activity on Wednesday, IDF troops identified armed terrorists operating nearby and directed an Israeli Air Force craft that struck and eliminated the threat. The IAF carried out several additional strikes over the past 24 hours, targeting dozens of terrorist sites, including tunnels, military structures and positions that posed an immediate danger to Israeli forces.

One of the most significant structures the IDF dismantled was an attack tunnel route stretching several hundred meters. The tunnel included multiple exit shafts, some of which were booby-trapped.

During the operation, the troops located a terrorist cell emerging from a shafts directly ahead and killed them.

“IDF troops under the Southern Command, guided by the Intelligence Directorate and the Shin Bet, continue to act against terrorist organizations throughout the Gaza Strip as part of ‘Operation Gideon’s Chariots,’” the military said.

The IDF emphasized that operations will continue to protect Israeli civilians.
