Ten citizens of Nepal are among those murdered by Hamas terrorists, the country’s embassy in Israel confirmed in a statement on Sunday night.
“Ten Nepalis have tragically died, due to an attack by the Palestinian Hamas group, in a place called Kibbutz Alumim,” the embassy said.
According to the Nepali Foreign Minister, some 4,500 Nepali nationals work as caregivers in Israel. In addition, 265 Nepali students are participating in learning programs sponsored by the Israeli government.
Earlier on Sunday, Nepal’s ambassador had said that 11 Nepalese agricultural students were wounded in the attacks across southern Israel.
The Foreign Ministry of Thailand said Sunday that Hamas abducted 11 of its citizens.
The Thais “are innocent and have nothing to do with any conflict,” Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said, according to the Bangkok Post.
There are about 25,000 Thai workers in Israel, most of whom work as farmhands, including 5,000 who are employed near the border with the Gaza Strip.
A picture distributed on the Telegram messaging app shows at least five men sitting in the dirt with their hands behind their backs, including a 26-year-old worker identified by his parents as Natthaporn Onkeaw, in what appeared to be a bunker, as masked gunmen train rifles on them.
In addition to the hostages, two Thai citizens were killed and eight others were wounded in the violence, Thailand’s prime minister said on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs said it is working to verify the reported abduction of Filipino caretakers by Hamas terrorists.
The Philippine embassy in Tel Aviv received “unconfirmed reports” that Filipinos working near the Gaza border were captured on Saturday morning.
Earlier, Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Manet confirmed the death of a Cambodian student who was in Israel when the attack began.
