An Islamic Jihad terrorist was killed and an Israeli soldier lightly wounded on Thursday morning during an arrest raid in Jenin, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
“During the activity, Israel Border Police forces apprehended two wanted suspects who were adjacent to a building. During the apprehension, shots were fired at the forces from the building, who immediately responded with live fire and breached the building,” according to an IDF statement.
“During exchanges of fire, Mustafa Kumbua, a resident of Jenin, was shot and killed after shooting at the forces and attempting to flee during the apprehension attempt. Mustafa was involved in terrorist activity and shot at IDF soldiers,” the statement continued.
The forces entered the building and found weapons and ready-to-use explosive charges that were subsequently destroyed.
As the force withdrew from the area, rioters hurled explosive devices at the Israeli forces, who returned fire. The IDF did not provide casualty figures, saying only that “hits were identified.”
A Border Police officer was lightly wounded by bullet shrapnel during the operation, and was evacuated to hospital, according to the IDF.

The killing of the PIJ terrorist was the first such incident in Jenin since the Israel Defense Forces’ large-scale counterterror operation in the city in early July, which left 12 Palestinian combatants dead.
