An indictment was filed on Wednesday in the Haifa District Court against two suspects for planning to carry out fire-bombings near Karmiel in northern Israel, according to police.

The suspects, who according to Channel 12 are minors, planned to hurl fire bombs at vehicles on Route 85 near the Gil’on Junction and set fire to the adjacent forest, according to police.

The suspects were arrested two weeks ago after being spotted by police in a parking lot around 4:30 a.m. wearing dark clothing. Upon investigation, the officers determined that the two had stopped at a nearby station to purchase gas, which they used to fill empty bottles while filming themselves in preparation for the attack.

Last month, an IDF soldier was killed and another seriously wounded in a terrorist stabbing in a shopping center in Karmiel.

The slain victim was identified as Sgt. Aleksandr Iakiminskyi, 19, from Nahariya, who served as a driver in the 188th Armored Brigade’s 71st Battalion.

Police identified the terrorist as 21-year-old Jawwad Omar Rubia, from the nearby town of Nahf.
