Progressive Jewish groups blast U.S. political activist Linda Sarsour after she compares Zionism to white supremacy at an American Muslims for Palestine conference.
The movement told the outlet that the three would “transition off of the Women’s March Board and onto other projects focused on advocacy within their respective organizations.”

“These departments are basically sponsoring a hate-fest,” said attorney Karen Hurvitz, who is representing the students. “They need to move this rally off campus and not sponsor it in any way.”
“It is time for Jewish parents to vote with their dollars and to take NYU off the list of consideration for their kids to attend. There are plenty of other great schools who aren’t endorsing anti-Semitism at every turn,” said Club Z executive director Masha Merkulova.
“These departments bill the event as a defense of free speech, and yet they plan to silence pro-Israel voices by not including them,” says CAMERA’s Hali Haber. “The event is really nothing more than ugly political theater pretending to be liberal and academic for reasons of public relations.”
“Providing the imprimatur of three academic departments to such a politically motivated and directed event violates the core academic mission of the university, suppresses student expression and impedes the free exchange of ideas so essential for any university,” said a letter to UMass chancellor Kumble Subbaswamy.
“A statement by NYU whitewashing Sarsour as a ‘racial justice and civil-rights activist’ is truly a slap in the face for the Jewish community and a dangerous omission of the truth.” said Aviva Rosenschein, international campus director for CAMERA.
“Everyone has a right to exist. I just don’t feel that everyone has a right to exist at the disposal of another group,” said Tamika Mallory.

While the Women’s March was founded in opposition to U.S. President Donald Trump’s policies and views, many involved feel that the leadership has taken the movement in the wrong direction, citing anti-Semitism, support for BDS movement and their close ties of with Nation of Islam head Louis Farrakhan.
