StopAntisemitism shared a video of a man chuckling as he and a female companion removed posters that a woman in Brooklyn, N.Y., had hung showing the faces of hostages captured in Israel by Hamas terrorists on Oct. 7.
A number of them are U.S. citizens.
The watchdog group has named the identities of the individuals as Kelly Ann and Noah Schaffer. Kelly Ann is a social worker and Schaffer, a former professional magician, works as a strategist for his father Eric’s company, Human Factors International.
The younger Schaffer will now perform a temporary disappearing act after the elder Schaffer suspended him from work with four months of unpaid leave.
“Noah is my son. He is not an antisemite nor a supporter of Hamas. I can attest that he has not acted this way at any time during his whole life,” wrote Eric Schaffer. “He now understands that his actions were reprehensible, he is deeply sorry and regretful.”
The Schaffer family is Jewish. Eric wrote that his son’s suspension would “give him time to learn more about his Jewish family history, reflect deeply, and make amends. And after this time, we will review if he can rejoin the company.”
