Since moving to Israel nearly 10 years ago, I’ve been amazed every day at how the Bible comes to life here. We hike with our kids up hills first climbed by our ancestors, drive on highways past cities mentioned in our holy scripture and speak the language of our ancient kings and prophets.

The Torah—not only our national heritage, but the Book of Books that has had more impact on civilization than any other—is first and foremost about the relationship between the people of Israel and the land of Israel. More than any other topic, the Bible loves Israel, and nearly every page bursts with passionate descriptions about the beauty of the land.

From the thousands of beautiful passages that describe our special Eretz Yisrael, here are 73 Bible verses to celebrate Israel’s 73rd birthday. (Translation from The Israel Bible)
