The US president-elect warned of “trouble like they’ve never seen before” if the talks fail.
Qatar has reportedly delivered a final draft agreement to both Israel and Hamas.
Doha “wants to reach an agreement as soon as possible, and is making every effort to make it happen,” the Israeli opposition leader said.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dispatched his security chiefs for the first joint visit since August.
The proposed legislation would bar countries that fund terrorism from playing such a role.
The president-elect repeated his stark warning that “all hell will break loose in the Middle East” if the captives are not released before he takes office.
U.S. Special Coordinator for the Middle East Brett McGurk and other top American officials were reportedly expected to join the talks.
Delegation participants include members of the Mossad, the Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency).
This move came after the Qatari channel aired “incitement and false reports that stir internal unrest and interfere in internal Palestinian affairs.”
The agreement would reportedly include the phased release of the 100 Israelis and foreign nationals in the hands of Hamas, of whom 64 are believed to be alive.
