“My constituents don’t need to be bogged down in, ‘Is he the best candidate?’ ” said the Michigan congresswomen. “That’s not what you have to convince my residents.”
“Her tee shirt shows her support for wiping Israel, and it’s nearly 7 million Jews, off the face of the earth. Her anti-Semitism knows no bounds,” said Republican Jewish Coalition spokesperson Neil Strauss.
The anti-Israel group supports the BDS movement and was founded by Hatem Bazian, who co-founded Students for Justice in Palestine.
Former New York State Assemblyman Dov Hikind was being escorted out of the room, some of the other attendees chanted “Rashida!”
“We offer our unequivocal apology to the overwhelming majority of Democrats in Congress who are rightfully offended by the inaccurate assertion that the poorly worded, inflammatory advertisement implied,” said AIPAC in a statement that it shared on Twitter on Saturday.
One of the two suspects in the killing at the kosher supermarket was linked to the anti-Semitic Black Hebrew Israelite movement.
She said that she’s also advocating for clean water in her Michigan district and “fighting for clean water in Gaza.”
The three freshmen congresswomen are scheduled to officially make the announcement at a rally for Sanders at an Oct. 19 rally in New York.
“Some people have one move only: boycott. Cancel. Make-go-away. But here’s the thing, the house voted 318 to 17 to condemn the #BDS movement,” tweeted cable talk-show host and comedian Bill Maher.
