Tel Aviv skyscraper wins international design award

ToHa is located at the intersection of Derech Hashalom, Yigal Allon and Totzeret Haaretz streets.

The Chicago-based Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat chose Tel Aviv’s two-year-old ToHa skyscraper as the overall winner in the office building category of its 18th annual awards program.

ToHa is located at the intersection of Derech Hashalom, Yigal Allon and Totzeret Haaretz streets (ToHa comes from the latter street name, which translates to “Product of Israel”).

Tower 1 of two planned towers, completed in early 2019, has 28 floors and is designed in the shape of an iceberg by Israeli artist/architect Ron Arad of London, working with local architect Avner Yashar.

“Configured as a large seven-story-high main lobby space, the atrium of ToHa Tower 1 continues upwards as a stepped lightwell culminating in a generous walkable skylight on the public roof,” noted the council.

ToHa Tower 1 obtained LEED Platinum certification, the highest globally recognized sustainability achievement, in May 2019.

The Maryland State Retirement and Pension System told JNS that it “has not adopted any policies to discourage or prohibit investments in Israel bonds.”
“I just can’t think of a better example of how Israel is not an apartheid state when you look at the people who are actually making our products,” Rachel Simons, whose products are now banned at the Park Slope Coop, told JNS.
U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres’s decision is “a moral disgrace that proves that Guterres has lost all credibility,” Danny Danon said.
“You can’t call yourself independent when you’re being funded specifically by a government,” Hillel Neuer of UN Watch told JNS.
David Bocarsly, of Jewish California, stated that the vote was a “powerful statement that California stands with every person of faith and their constitutional right to worship.”
“No one’s pain is greater or more important than others,” Gov. Josh Shapiro told Politico. “But from a data perspective, there has been a dramatic spike in antisemitism that is unmatched elsewhere, and that’s a problem.”
