U.S. Ambassador Ron Dermer said that he is not afraid of the peace proposal, saying that “we know we have a friend here” at the White House in U.S. President Donald Trump.
The new political action committee Pro-Israel America, founded by former AIPAC officials Jeff Mendelsohn and Jonathan Missner, has already endorsed 14 Democrats and 13 Republicans.
“Despite the hostile atmosphere, they continue to be proudly Jewish, wearing yarmulkes, praying in synagogues, and running kosher shops and restaurants,” said Culture and Sports Minister Miri Regev. “I am a traditional woman, and so this really touched me.”
“Teaching Hebrew to Americans of all backgrounds is a sure way to show concretely the vibrancy and humanity of Israeli life and culture,” said Rabbi Andrew Ergas, chair of the board of the Council for Hebrew Language and Culture in North America.
It comes as anti-Israel sentiment has affected the 116th Congress with Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) making remarks and issuing tweets that have expressed anti-Israel bias and anti-Semitic tropes.
“I can’t think of a better example of the incredibly close and important cooperation between Israel and the United States,” said Israeli Ambassador to the United States David Friedman.
Iran has hundreds of ballistic missiles in its arsenal, while its proxy, Hezbollah, has an estimated 130,000 projectiles.
The deployment was ordered by U.S. Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan, according to U.S. European Command (EUCOM), which said it exemplified America’s “continued commitment” to Israeli security.
