The two leaders met at the White House, where they were expected to discuss the Abraham Accords, Iran’s nuclear program, Ukraine and the political climate in Washington and Jerusalem ahead of the elections.
The Israeli leader will meet with Joe Biden, congressional leaders and Jewish communal leadership.
The Israeli president is also set to meet with Secretary of State Antony Blinken, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.
Washington is “committed to working with allies and partners to prevent the transfer of dangerous weaponry to Russia,” says State Department spokesperson.
The Israeli president will be making his first official visit to the United States since assuming office in July 2021.
