Holland will appoint a national coordinator to tackle anti-Semitism, announced Dutch Minister of Justice and Security Ferdinand Grapperhaus on Sunday.
The newly created role will consist of advising the Dutch government about handling hatred against Jews.
It has yet to be determined who will serve in the position.
The Combat Anti-Semitism Movement applauded the move.
“At a time when anti-Semitism is worryingly growing in strength in Europe and across the world, the decision to join the growing number of countries in making such an appointment is welcome,” said its director, Sacha Roytman-Dratwa, in a statement. “It sends a clear message that there is simply no place for anti-Semitism in free, democratic and tolerant societies such as the Netherlands. We hope it will encourage other countries to follow their example.”
