Groups across North America prepare pro-Israel rallies, vigils, events

Hamas’s murderous assault on the Jewish state has inspired communal action throughout the United States and Canada.

Rallies, vigils and events for the pro-Israeli and Jewish community are being planned and taking place around the world in reaction to the multi-pronged attacks on Israel by the Hamas terror organization that rules the Gaza Strip.

In New York City, UJA-Federations of New York announced a rally for Tuesday at 5 p.m. in Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza, co-sponsored by 11 other organizations. The Jewish Federation of Northeastern New York has announced a solidarity rally to start tonight at Congregation Beth Emeth in Albany.

In Chicago, the Jewish Community Relations Council scheduled a rally for Tuesday at 10 a.m. in NSCI in the northern suburb of Glencoe.

In Boston, Combined Jewish Philanthropies, the Israeli-American Council of New England and the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston organized a rally that began at noon with Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey set to speak.

In Florida, the Jewish Federation of Volusia and Flagler counties has organized a vigil and memorial at 6 p.m. in Ormond Beach.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta is holding two events. On Tuesday, a solidarity rally will take place at 7:15 p.m. at City Springs (regiser here). On Friday at 6 p.m., the temple will host Dov Wilker, regional director of AJC Atlanta, to provide updates on the war.

The Jewish Federation of Greater Nashville, Tenn., will hold a rally tonight at 7 p.m. with registration (details here). In Connecticut, the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford will lead a “Solidarity Rally for Support of Israel” at the West Hartford Town at 4 p.m.

In Canada, the UJA Federation of Greater Toronto has organized a pro-Israel rally scheduled tonight for 7 p.m. in Mel Lastman Square in North York, while the Jewish Federation of Ottawa has set a rally for 7:30 p.m. at Soloway Jewish Community Centre.

The new director intends to appoint a new deputy from within the organization, according to the the intelligence agency.
