The memorabilia in the exhibit, titled “Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away,” includes a gas mask used by the SS, a helmet and a dagger used by Heinrich Himmler, who oversaw the concentration and death camps, in addition to a desk belonging to Auschwitz commander Rudolf Höss.
In a massive report in Germany’s “Bild” newspaper, Albert Reimann Sr. and Albert Reimann Jr. were reported to have used Russian civilians and French POWs as forced laborers when the Nazi regime reigned, according to documents recently brought to light.

A meeting about the incident occurred at Newport Harbor High School, where the area’s congressional representative, Democrat Harley Rouda, did not mince words in condemning the pictures.
“For years, Yad Vashem has called for the opening of these archives, which will enable objective and open research, as well as comprehensive discourse on issues related to the conduct of the Vatican in particular, and the Catholic Church in general, during the Holocaust.”
Once the graveyards are mapped out, they will be cleaned, repaired and sealed under lock and key to protect against potential desecration. Groundskeepers and guards will also be employed at the sites.
It happened in the Jewish cemetery near the old synagogue burned down by the Nazis in September 1940.
