An IDF soldier was lightly wounded during an operation in Tubas in northeastern Samaria overnight Tuesday in which a Palestinian Authority Customs Police officer was killed, the army said.

“An armed Palestinian who served as a customs officer of the Palestinian Authority was killed during the clashes,” the IDF said, adding that “the circumstances of the incident are being investigated.”

Palestinian media named the officer as Abdel Nasser Sarhan, publishing video of the alleged incident.

Two Palestinian terrorist suspects were arrested during the Tubas raid.

Israeli forces also overnight Tuesday destroyed the home of the terrorist who carried out last February’s shooting attack at a gas station outside the town of Eli in the Binyamin region of Samaria.

Engineering forces blew up the Qalandiya home of Muhammad Manasser, responsible for the murders of Yitzchak Zeiger, a 57-year-old father and grandfather, and Uria Hartum, a 16-year-old high-school pupil.

Manasser, an officer in the Palestinian Authority police and a resident of Qalandiya, was slain after shooting and killing the two Israelis on the afternoon of Feb. 29.

During the operation in Qalandiya, a Palestinian village located between Ramallah and Jerusalem, Israeli forces arrested wanted terrorism suspects. What the IDF described as “disturbances” developed during the raid, with Israeli forces responding by dispersing the rioters and shooting at “key troublemakers,” with hits detected.

Israeli forces also arrested two terrorists on Tuesday night who were involved in an explosives attack near Hermesh in Samaria last week in which four people were wounded.

A total of five suspects were arrested during the IDF operation near Tulkarem.

“The security forces will continue to act to thwart terror operatives who act against Israeli citizens and IDF soldiers,” the army said.
