“Anti-BDS legislation is about commercial activities, not about people’s ability to speak,” says the 33-year-old. “People are free to criticize Israel; that is a protected right. But organized boycotting and divestment with the support of state, local or federal government is not acceptable.”
The anti-BDS component of the legislation has divided Democrats.
“Israeli leaders and Jewish groups need to be sensitive to how things are perceived that, even if not intended, can be subject to misuse by those who have been fighting against Israel,” said Malcolm Hoenlein, executive vice chairman of the Conference of Presidents.

As a former U.S. Navy JAG prosecutor in Iraq, Reschenthaler knows first-hand the threat posed by Islamic terrorists and Iran as well as the importance of supporting regional allies such as Israel.

The two men sought to promote themselves as centrist politicians seeking to unite the country after a decade of right-wing leadership.
“At this point, [Turkish President Recep Tayyip] Erdoğan seems to be strongly committed to his deepening partnership with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, and is unlikely to be swayed by Washington’s positive or negative incentives.”
Leaning towards the far-left fringes, which has appealed to younger voters, he has criticized Israeli actions against the Palestinians in Gaza, though recognizes the Jewish state’s right to defend itself.
