“Even though Sidi Mohamed Abdallahi is dead, we assume the investigation behind his crimes, including one count of terrorism, will not end,” Daniel Goldwin, a spokesman for the Jewish Federation of Chicago, told JNS.
“There is no evidence of foul play at this time,” the Cook County Sheriff’s Office told JNS of the death of 22-year-old Sidi Mohamed Abdallahi.
The Cook County, Ill., prosecutor’s office said Sidi Mohamed Abdallahi researched Jewish targets and had pro-Hamas material on his phone.
“These defendants allegedly targeted museum board members with threats and antisemitic graffiti based on their perceived heritage,” Eric Gonzalez said.
“I don’t understand what’s the matter with people,” Shawn Smith, acting district attorney in Delaware County, N.Y., told JNS, noting a similarity with another case he was preparing to prosecute.
“We did not secure these charges because of public pressure or because of media attention,” said Larry Snelling, superintendent of the Chicago Police.
The incident in the state capital of New York occurred with at least two dozen preschoolers present, prompting a lockdown.
“The victim suffered minor injuries from the assault,” the Montgomery County Police Department stated.
The victim suffered a bruise but did not need medical attention.
