Soldiers slain in Lebanon, Gaza, bringing IDF toll to 769

The total death toll among Israeli soldiers since Hamas’s Oct. 7, 2023, massacre now stands at 765.

Four Israel Defense Forces soldiers were killed on Saturday night while battling Hezbollah terrorists in Southern Lebanon, the military announced Sunday.

The slain troops were named as Cpt. (res.) Rabbi Avraham Yosef Goldberg, 43, from Jerusalem; Master Sgt. (res.) Gilad Elmaliach, 30, from Jerusalem; Cpt. (res.) Amit Chayut, 29, from Haifa; and Maj. (res.) Eliav Amram Abitbol, 36, from Eitan. They all served with the Alon Brigade’s 8207th Battalion.

On Friday, three IDF soldiers were killed while fighting Hamas terrorists in Jabaliya in the northern Gaza Strip. They were named as Cpt. Barak Israel Sagan, 22, from Petah Tikva; Sgt. Ido Ben Zvi, 21, from Shomrat; and Sgt. Hillel Ovadia, 22, from Jerusalem. They all served in the 460th Armored Brigade’s 196th Battalion.

On Thursday night, five Israeli soldiers were killed while battling Hezbollah terrorists in Southern Lebanon. They were named as Maj. (res.) Dan Maori, 43, from Beit Yitzhak-Sha’ar Hefer; Cpt. (res.) Alon Safrai, 28, from Jerusalem; Warrant Officer (res.) Omri Lotan, 47, from Bat Hefer; Warrant Officer (res.) Guy Idan, 51, from Shomrat; and Master Sgt. (res.) Tom Segal, 28, from Ein HaBesor. They all served in the 8th Armored Brigade’s 89th Battalion.

Also Thursday, Sgt. First Class Gai Ben-Haroosh, 23, a commander in the IDF’s Oketz canine unit, from Pardes Hanna-Karkur, was killed fighting in Southern Lebanon.

Additionally, Ch. Insp. Arnon Zamora, a member of the Border Police’s Yamam National Counter-Terrorism Unit, was fatally wounded during a hostage rescue mission in Gaza in June, and civilian defense contractor Liron Yitzhak was mortally wounded in the Strip in May.

The Israeli military said that Golani troops also uncovered an arms cache during a targeted ground operation in southern Lebanon.

“Antisemitism has no place in our society,” stated Andrew Boutros, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Illinois.
“Markwayne truly gets along well with people,” U.S. President Donald Trump has said.
“Every Californian deserves to practice their faith without fear,” said the lawmaker, who introduced the bill.
The bill was condemned by opposition leader Yair Lapid.
