Israel on Wednesday said there would be a response to the detonation by Hamas of an explosive device in Rafah, wounding an Israel Defense Forces officer.

The officer suffered light injuries when the device exploded during operations to dismantle terrorist infrastructure. He was hospitalized and his family notified.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office said the attack confirmed Hamas’s “violent intentions” and represented a “flagrant violation” of President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan. The statement cited Hamas’s refusal to disarm as an ongoing breach of the agreement.

“Israel will respond accordingly,” the Prime Minister’s Office said, without elaborating.

Hamas must comply with the terms of Trump’s plan, including demilitarization and de-radicalization, according to the statement.
