Experts in Jerusalem speak out on the problem in the United States, Europe and the Palestinian Authority.
Israel Bachar, consul general of Israel in Los Angeles, said the academic initiative is “proof that the connection between peoples transcends politics and focuses on what truly matters.”
Awards seek to “recognize and honor the visionary educators who are transforming the landscape of teaching in Israel.”
Of 225 pages that the college finally provided, 214 appeared to be publicly available policies, the House Committee on Education and Workforce said.
The state’s largest teachers’ union and a coalition of other advocacy groups, which oppose the legislation, said that it fails to address other forms of bigotry.
“We hope this investigation will force Cal Poly to stop sweeping antisemitism under the rug,” stated Kenneth Marcus, chairman of the Brandeis Center.
“Jewish identity can no longer be left to local choice or personal preference,” said Yoav Kisch.
“These independent schools are failing to support Jewish families,” said Jonathan Greenblatt, the nonprofit’s CEO.
Speakers cautioned that the Education Ministry is steeped in progressivism.
“The government can’t say, ‘We’re going to create this program and we’re going to give out all this money, but don’t even ask for the money if you’re religious,’” Nick Reaves, of Becket, told JNS.
“The Trump administration will vigorously uphold the law and ensure universities are transparent with their foreign gifts and investments,” the department stated.
Instead of the 3.3% reduction in pay for public sector workers, most educators will take a 0.95% hit, and receive an extra day off.
